INTERNET SERVICES COORDINATOR

The Big 12 Conference, in partnership with Jump TV Sports, is seeking applications for the position of Internet Services Coordinator. The successful applicant will serve as senior editor and producer for the Big 12 Conference internet operations at www.big12sports.com.

Using a web-based content management system, the coordinator is responsible for editorial control and production of all site content, including posting, editing, and scheduling stories and other text-based content; writing headlines; coordinating and executing the conference plan to enhance video streaming efforts; selecting and preparing photos; creating and editing graphics; setting up and linking to multimedia such as audio, video and photo galleries; developing and executing special projects; assisting staff in use of the content management system; and quality control. The position will be the primary liaison with the conference's third-party internet provider and work with their staff to implement any and all current and new technologies, including but not limited to video, audio, podcasts, auctions and mobile platforms. The person will also work on managing and enhancing the league's internal Intranet web site.

Attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a group are essential. The position is allowed a flexible schedule, with work on nights and weekends during the athletic school year (September - May). Experience in college athletics, particularly in communications, and a broad knowledge of Big 12-sponsored sports is helpful. The person will also work with the Director of Marketing and Corporate Partner liaison to ensure that the needs of the Big 12 online store and the conference corporate partners are met. An eye on driving site traffic and increasing the brand and awareness of Big 12 Athletics is encouraged.

A Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is expected. The individual must be an efficient editor and be able to coordinate information from members of the conference staff. Knowledge of HTML is required, along with a working knowledge of college athletics. Expertise in the areas of video and audio production/encoding, web site design, image creation and manipulation; statistical software packages, Associated Press style and desktop publishing (InDesign and Photoshop) are desired.

The league encompasses seven states, over 45 million people and more than 18 million television households within its geographic footprint. The conference conducts postseason championships for 20 of its 21 sports.
